As a rule, I’m not a fan of fitness affirmations. But this one strikes me as smart.
Something about the notion of reaching goals quietly, methodically, and when others are drinking eggnog, has a conspiratorial wink to it.
I’m seeing something similar play out in the summer months, too. While offices are deserted and OUT OF OFFICE auto-responses the norm, a few of my coaching clients are doubling down on goals.
They’re using the quiet of summer to:
finally create that big think-y deck that’s been buzzing in their brain
prep their resume for a big leap
set BAGs (Big, Audacious, Goals) to reach by year’s end
upskill via webinars and classes
catch up on business books that have sat unopened on their desk
I am here for it.
Distraction-free stretches of time are almost impossible to come by. You can accomplish remarkable things with the twin gifts of focus and quiet. It’s rare time math that works solidly in your favor.
So if you’re staring down an empty Google calendar this summer, think about setting even a mini goal. Your odds of realizing it are at an all-time high.
And if you’re reading this from a beach chair, GET OFF YOUR PHONE and go do vacation right.
Until next time, remember that creativity knows no bounds.
